Overview Counseling Psychologists apply psychological principles, theories, methods, and techniques in the evaluation and treatment of clients with emotional or psychological disorders in a campus psychological counseling center facility. Psychologists are expected to demonstrate awareness and knowledge of multi-cultural competencies. Competencies

  3. Knowledge of clinical supervision theory and practice
  4. Deliver workshops and outreach opportunities
  5. Provide academic instruction
  6. Consultation to campus community
  7. Crisis response
Responsibilities
  1. Provide clinical services including psychological assessment and evaluation (clinical interview, mental status exam, psychological testing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations); individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy and structured therapy groups; couple’s psychotherapy; and ability to make campus and community referrals.
  2. Develop and deliver psycho-educational activities including workshops and proactive outreach and prevention programs.
  3. Provide academic instruction including courses for academic credit taught within various academic departments on campus; APA accredited pre-doctoral psychology internship programs; other psychology trainees and peer programs.
  4. Consultation to faculty, staff, administration, and students regarding mental health issues of our campus. This would include prevention efforts and intervention strategies for high-risk situations.
  5. Triage and crisis intervention (e.g., assessment for potential suicide or homicide, and voluntary and involuntary hospitalization) and critical incident debriefing and interventions (e.g., aftermath of suicide, unexpected death, natural disasters).
