SERIES CONCEPT
Building Automation Controls Technicians repairs, installs, and
programs all components of the campus Energy Management Systems and
associated equipment.
Examples of typical assignments are:
• Performs daily monitoring,
maintenance and operation of campus-wide building automation systems.
• Assists with the development
and implementation of effective energy management strategies.
• Creates new and modify
existing programming language and graphics to enhance energy management
system performance.
• Works with vendors, computer
control and software specialists, co-workers and campus community to
optimize campus energy management programs.
• Provides documentation of
program implementation to Facilities Management supervision.
CLASS CONCEPTS
Building Automation Controls Supervisor
Under direction, incumbents supervise and coordinate the work of
Assistant Supervisors and Building Automation Controls
Technicians. The incumbent makes hiring selections, insure
that new and existing staff receives proper training, assigns,
schedules and directs technicians in the installation, repairing and
programming of campus energy management systems and associated
equipment. Performs all administrative duties necessary to
manage department workload and assignments, maintain appropriate record
keeping of materials and submit time cards for accurate labor
charges. Evaluates employee performance and determines
standards for performance.
Building Automation Controls Technician
Under supervision, incumbents perform operational level duties in
installation, repairing and programming of campus energy management
systems and associated equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Five years related experience in building automation technology;
ability to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations;
knowledge of national, state and local codes and safety standards;
knowledge of HVAC systems and abilities essential to the successful
performance of the duties assigned to the position.
