CLASS CONCEPT
Stationary Engineer Instrument and Controls Technicians inspects,
tests, maintains, repairs and installs instruments and controls
associated with the Central Plant co-generation plant, heating and
cooling systems, and associated equipment. May also assist
with the inspection, testing, maintenance, repair and installation of
instruments and controls in campus buildings. Incumbents
maintain records of work and perform other duties as required.
Examples of typical assignments are:
Incumbents perform maintenance, repair, calibration, and installation
of steam flow transmitters, pressure indicating transmitters, level
transmitters, and associated control devices on the Central Plant
Generating Facility equipment.
Incumbents repair, install, calibrate, monitor and test Central Plant
Generating Facility Allen Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers and
graphic displays.
Incumbents perform regular inspections and calibrations on boiler
controls systems.
Incumbents work with vendors, computer control and software
specialists, and plant operators, engineers, and supervisory personnel
to determine process parameters and technical specifications on the
Central Plant Generating Facility equipment.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Possess a Steam Engineers License and an EPA Universal Refrigeration
license.
Five years related experience working with instruments and controls in
an operating steam plant; ability to read, write and perform basic
arithmetic calculations; knowledge of federal, state and
local codes and safety standards; knowledge and abilities essential to
the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
