Confidentiality:

One of the most important criteria identified for the success of this program is confidentiality for the respondents.  Our online research and our focus groups emphasized the importance of this component.  Because we want open and honest feedback, we have arranged with Wonderlic Consulting to receive the responses to the surveys directly and return the data to us already compiled.  At no time will anyone at UCI receive responses with any information to correlate to the respondent.  Furthermore, data will be compiled in groups of departments and always with at least five responses to maintain confidentiality. Open-ended questions will be transcribed but, again, there will be no individual identification.

Reports:

Wonderlic will generate multi-page reports for each of the three surveys. Data will be compiled for the various aspects of job satisfaction, training and development, and benefits. Each of the surveys has categories that overlap. It is our goal to be able to track changes in employee opinion from the time the employee is new, while they are employed here and at the time they leave

Background:

In 2001-02, Chancellor Ralph Cicerone appointed a Task Force on Growth, Recruitment and Retention of Staff.  A key initiative of the task force includes understanding why staff leave the university and how the university can improve its workforce environment to better retain valuable employees. Over time, the project expanded to be a more comprehensive survey program comprised of three surveys.
